South of the harbour is Gornja Vala, with the largest and most beautiful beach on the Makarska Riviera. The harbour is protected from all winds; smaller yachts may be berthed on the inner side of the breakwater; larger yachts are docked south of the harbour or in the Bosac Cove (northwest of the harbour). Gradac is located near the main road (M2, E65), and connected with it by a local road. The traces of a Roman wall have been found on the locality of Crkvine, close to the sea. A two-storey quadrangular tower with loopholes, built in 1661 for the purpose of defence from the Turks, has been preserved in a hamlet above the road. In the vicinity of the harbour is the village cemetery with an old, partly preserved Baroque church.
